| The Challenge The City of Allentown wanted to build a surveillance network across the city to improve the safety of the citizens by reducing illicit activity in the high crime areas. |
The Solution The City of Allentown partnered with CSI to engineer and implement a solution that would meet surveillance objectives. Due to the large scale of the project, the design incorporated a phased deployment, starting in the "Weed and Seed" area of the city and expanding outward. As the deployment of the cameras pushed out into the city, the secured wireless network also expanded opening up additional opportunity for uses in public safety. Upon the activation of the first phase of the system, the city noticed a reduction in crime, which met the objective of the initiative. In incidents that did occur, footage obtained from the cameras was used as evidence in capturing people committing crimes. To this day, CSI is continuing to work with the City of Allentown to expand and support the surveillance network into further outreaches of the city. |
