Location: Fisher Stadium, Lafayette College, Easton PA
Project: Sound Reinforcement System

The Challenge: The site of Lafayette College's home football games since 1926, Fisher Stadium was undergoing a $23 million transformation prior to the 2006 season. The project featured expanded seating, a new playing surface, brighter lights, an expanded press box and a 19-by-35 foot video matrix board, providing a telecast of the game and entertainment vignettes for fans. A robust, versatile and scalable sound system was required to match the quality of the improvements made throughout the rest of the stadium.
The CSI Solution: A centralized sound reinforcement system designed for easy use and controlled from the press box announcer’s station. A Digital Signal Processor matrix mixer would provide the sound zone distribution and equalization to Community "R" Series loudspeakers. Also included was a wireless microphone system for on field events.
The Project: The scope included installation of pole-mounted and press box mounted loudspeakers. To reproduce thunderous low frequency for music or special effects, a Bass Horn was installed. To meet the college's objective of even coverage throughout the complex and avoiding sound leakage outside the stadium ,CSI wired, aimed, tuned and tested all loudspeakers. Fiber optic cable was used for the connectivity between the sound system cabinets and selected amplifiers to eliminate the possibility of telephone line interference. CSI installed all rack components and wired the press box and plaza tent areas. CSI returned one year later and expanded the system to include a referee microphone feed and a PA system feed for TV and radio broadcast interface locations.
The Result: Fisher was recently voted as having "The Best Game Day Atmosphere" in the Patriot League. In addition to Lafayette’s home games, the field is site of two famous, nationally-televised gridiron rivalries: the century-old High School “Stateliner” Thanksgiving Day contest between Easton and Phillipsburg and (bi-annually) college football’s longest-running rivalry game between Lafayette and Lehigh University.
