Are you prepared for the Deadline for Digital TV Signals?
Dear CSI Customer,
As you may or may not know, the FCC mandate to have all TV signals be in a digital format is just around the corner. After Feb. 17, 2009, TVs with analog tuners will not be able to directly receive a signal from an antenna. A digital tuner with a converter will be required to view off air broadcasts on any TV having an analog tuner. Because the FCC regulations only pertain to over the air broadcasts, cable TV providers are not required to change the format of the signal that is transmitted over their network infrastructure. It is up to each cable provider to determine when and if they will change to all digital channels.
What does this mean to you, our customer?
Any CSI customer who is currently utilizing an antenna to receive off-air TV signals will need to have a system upgrade to continue to view program content. The extent of the upgrades will vary and is based on many factors including the current system installation and the quality of content that is required at the TV.
Any CSI customer who is currently receiving signals from a cable TV provider may or may not need to have a system upgrade. If the cable provider does not plan to change to all digital channels and the customer is satisfied with the system operation as it is, then an upgrade will not be necessary at this time. If the customer wishes to view digital content, a system analysis can be provided to determine upgrades that will be necessary.
